Durban – Beach and Fun Tours

Image result for durban city

I had traveled to Durban on a recommendation from my friend back in Harrisburg, PA who owns https://leahystowing.com/.  He told me that this would be a great place to visit.  Surely, he was right.  It proved to be a hot destination, not only for the beach weather but also for the nightlife it offers along with a mix of cultural tours and experiences that one can enjoy here.

Being located along the eastern shores of South Africa, it is part of the KwaZulu-Natal province. The culture of this place has been formed due to the colonial influences it has had as well as Indian and African influences. Since I traveled in 2012 I could relish much of the refurbishment that the city has undergone since 2010 for the World Cup of soccer that was hosted here.

Places to Enjoy

What I loved were the promenade runs by the seafront; not only are their scenic beach walks and retail landscape to explore but several of the city attractions can be found here:

  • Ushaka Marine World

This is one of the celebrated theme parks with an aquarium that showcases a variety of underwater species.

  • Moses Mabhida Stadium

I stopped by here to attend a weekend football event that was an exciting way to mingle with the local crowd.

  • Durban Botanical Gardens

this garden showcases many local plant species and the interactive guide tours are quite informative.

Tours to Take

This city has several tours that tourists can take around the village or city area as well as the game reserve close by. I enjoyed the city tour of Durban as well as the PheZulu cultural village tour. It was a day trip experience whereby you get to see the native village life, homes as well as taste the native food. The game reserve tour covers the Hluhluwe Imfolozi area which brings tourists so close to the animals, something I found very exciting. Amongst the nightlife enjoyment, I particularly enjoyed stopping by the Suncoast casino that is known to be a popular tourist entertainment spot.

Overall, Durban promises a heady experience of beach holiday clubbed with exotic natural and native life experiences.
