Mid September meanwhile saw me at two new venues: Dunblane Cathedral and Airth Castle for Leigh and Pete’s wedding. Dunblane Cathedral’s architecture is amazing and one of my favourites from this wedding is above. New venues meanwhile confirmed for 2012 include Solsgirth House Hotel near Dollar and Dalhousie Castle in Edinburgh. As someone who covers the whole of Scotland I am regularly visiting new venues

A blog post on this wedding will follow later in the year once I have finalised the wedding album. Luss Church itself is extremely popular church for weddings and typically couples from over 40 countries are married each year. Loch Lomond is also very popular for weddings with Boterich Castle,  Cameron House Hotel, The Cruin, Duck Bay and Ross Priory

One of the reasons that Sarah and Nic chose me was they wanted to spend little time on the formals and couple shots and spend as much time as possible with the guests. All the formals requested were taken in 25 minutes and all the couple shots were taken in 20 minutes. This is quite typical coverage for my wedding photography as it allows time to capture plenty of detail photographs as well as candids to tell a natural story of the couples wedding day.

Another reason why I was booked was my black and white reportage photography. Typically 20-30% of my coverage is black and white wedding photographs and a selection of my favourites are above. Great subjects for black and white wedding photographs are the ceremony, receiving line, speeches, children and the first dance, in essence photographs with emotional content. I always try and capture a dramatic black and white landscape of the wedding venue too.

I look forward to photography of more weddings at Balbirnie House Hotel in 2012. It is such an excellent wedding venue regardless of the weather and the organisation of the wedding, the food and the service is always first class. Wedderburn Castle is a fantastic venue in the Scottish Borders for an intimate winter wedding with a dining room that can seat up to 42 guests or a ballroom which can cater for up to 92 guests. Jo and Gregg came all the way from New Zealand for their wedding at Weddderburn Castle. Some of my favourite black and white wedding photography from the first part of day is below.

Jo and Gregg’s wedding ceremony at Wedderburn Castle was conducted by one of my favourite humanist celebrants Tim MaGuire. The day was informal and relaxed with giant games in the drawing room during the wedding reception before the wedding breakfast in the fine drawing room which is by Wedderburn Castle’s own in house caterers.

Although Kinkell Byre is a challenging venue for wedding photography the in house lighting technician creates a beautiful backdrop for both the ceremony room and reception area.

I have been the wedding photographer for numerous Kinkell Byre weddings over the last five years and look forward to returning in 2012.

Thank you for booking me as your wedding photographer Kate and Iain and sharing the day with guests from Glasgow, Troon and Yorkshire. You also booked my favourite humanist celebrant Mary Wallace from Doune who always conducts a fantastic wedding ceremony.

The wedding itself was very intimate and Dana and Oliver wanted the day to be photographed naturally as they loved photographs of real moments, particularly black and white photographs. With only 11 guests photographing such an intimate wedding is a huge responsibility as great skill is required to not be intrusive. Some of my favourite photographs follow in the slideshow below.
